Chicken Broth Ingredient in Chicken/Sausage Gumbo

In reference to the one who was confused as to how a carton of chicken broth is converted to a cup or can of broth: I simply bypassed this and instead slow cooked hindquarters overnight 8 hours on low, then poured of the fluid to let stand awhile until thicker fluid gelled on the surface which was scraped off and discarded. The remainder of the broth which was about a quart was boiled with the sausage on the stovetop with the quart of water instead of abiding by the recipe of bringing two quarts of water to a boil. Then I transferred all along with the diced vegetables and precooked chicken cubes to the slow cooker set on low for a bit before switching it to warm during the ongoing serving until refrigerating and maybe ultimately freezing before a couple of days pass avoid the roux going rancid which one always need to be mindful of unless your household is able to consume the entire batch relatively quick.

Looks good, have not tried yet. Picture shows okra, but not listed as an ingredient.

The recipe directions mention shrimp but the ingredients do even mention shrimp. Also the picture of the recipe shows okra but the ingredients don't mention okra at all. I give it a low rating because of the inconsistencies.

I find that this recipe is not clear to me. In the top part of this recipe it says the cooking times in the crock pot, but I do not find where they are in the recipe at all. Also, our chicken broth comes in cartons, not cans. How many cups is one of the cans of chicken broth mentioned in this recipe? This recipe looks tempting, bu confusing to me. I would love to be able to try it out. Thank you for any attention you give to my concerns.

Due to gradual and even heating of a slow cooker, recipes featured on this site can be cooked in a range of slow cooker sizes. Most recipes can be accommodated in a slow cooker that is either one quart smaller or one quart larger than specified. If using a smaller sized slow cooker, please use caution when preparing your meal to prevent over filling. For smaller sauces and dips that call for 3 quarts or less, it is not recommended to alter the unit size. Crock-Pot® is a registered trademark and should not be used generically when referring to a ‘slow cooker’ within the recipes.
