Easy to customize

Let me start by saying 5 stars for convenience and adaptability. I improvised considerably, yet the dish still turned out great. The recipe is poorly written: "a box of pasta" can vary from 10 to 16 oz, and how much is "a cup of velveeta cubes"??? I used a large crockpot with two 16 oz boxes of corkscrew pasta, a 2 lb box of velveeta, 1 stick of real butter, 4 cups of 2% milk, onion powder, salt & pepper. Fixed for a large group BBQ. When it started to dry out we just added more milk. Stir gently and NOT frequently to avoid breaking apart the pasta. Next time I'll cook the pasta less than al dente, and I'll add chopped green chiles to give it more zip but great as-is for kids and those that don't like spicy foods.

Due to gradual and even heating of a slow cooker, recipes featured on this site can be cooked in a range of slow cooker sizes. Most recipes can be accommodated in a slow cooker that is either one quart smaller or one quart larger than specified. If using a smaller sized slow cooker, please use caution when preparing your meal to prevent over filling. For smaller sauces and dips that call for 3 quarts or less, it is not recommended to alter the unit size. Crock-Pot® is a registered trademark and should not be used generically when referring to a ‘slow cooker’ within the recipes.
