A good base for a beef stew

This recipe definitely is a good base for a beef stew. Only thing I would do differently is add some garlic powder(or fresh garlic), oregano, cumin powder, and a little less soya sauce. The tomatoe sauce and beef broth combined needs to be seasoned with garlic, oregano and cumin before pouring it over the whole stew in order to add an even flavour throughout. I also added some diced celery also for added flavour. Lastly I made it in 5 hours on high so I believe the timing was noted wrong on the recipe. Overall a great recipe.

Was ok

Made the stew mostly according to recipe ingredients and instructions. The changes I made were that I added baby potatoes and baby peeled carrots to the stew to save time on peeling the vegetables. I added a small amount of red wine to the broth to equal the broth measurement. Not sure if it was the wine or the broth, but next time I will use beef bouillon instead for added flavour. Had to add some garlic and more seasonings because stew didn't have as much flavour when it was done.

Cooking Time

Looks like a good, simple recipe but I will reverse the high and low cook times.

Think maybe Time for cooking is listed wrong / should probably be Low Longer Cook Time?

Beef Stew

I have made this recipe twice in my 2.5 qt casserole crockpot. It is very easy to prepare and is delicious. It gets done for me in four hours on high. The only thing I do differently is flour and brown the meat. It's my preference. Every bit of this dish gets eaten and that is saying a lot for me.

Super easy!

I don't have time to cook but this was a really easy recipe. Has a great flavor also.

Due to gradual and even heating of a slow cooker, recipes featured on this site can be cooked in a range of slow cooker sizes. Most recipes can be accommodated in a slow cooker that is either one quart smaller or one quart larger than specified. If using a smaller sized slow cooker, please use caution when preparing your meal to prevent over filling. For smaller sauces and dips that call for 3 quarts or less, it is not recommended to alter the unit size. Crock-Pot® is a registered trademark and should not be used generically when referring to a ‘slow cooker’ within the recipes.
