• 2 eggs
• 1½ cup sour milk
• 4 tablespoon soft fat
• 1½ cup flour
• ½ teaspoon soda
• 4 tablespoon sugar – raw, brown, or granulated
• ¾ teaspoon salt
• 1½ tablespoon confectioners’ sugar


1. Blend eggs and milk
2. Add flour, soda, sugar, and salt and blend until smooth
3. Add fat
4. Bake large pancakes on lightly greased, hot griddle
5. When baked, spread pancake with blended applesauce
6. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar
7. Lay next cake on top
8. Cover with more applesauce and repeat until all cakes are stacked
9. Cut like cake and serve a wedge to each serving
10. Jam or other spreads may be used in place of applesauce
